Let you be ammased by the stories of block cutters who excavated this cave for centuries (they used the stone as a building material for houses, farms, churches and castles). Get in though with the people who did hide in the caves during different wars and discover their secrets. Wonder about the impressive drawing and sculptures on the walls of this cave.

Extra extensive evening tours

In the summer holiday from July 18 until August 22, extra extensive evening tours are offered in the Velvet Cave on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturdays at 18.30 and 20.00 hrs.

Extra info!
  • In the Velvet Cave it is 12 degrees Celcius all year round. Keep this in mind with your clothing when planning your visit.
  • The evening tour takes longer and you will see a bigger part of the cave in comparison to a tour during the day. So this tour will last a little more than an hour.
  • De price of this evening tour is € 12,00 (adults) and € 10,00 kids (4 to 11 years). Do you wish to visit the Castle Ruins as well in daytime, the prices will be € 15,00 and € 12,00.

The Velvet Cave has many secrets. Discover a treasure trove of impressive wall murals, inscriptions, strange sculptures in the soft marlstone walls and a romantic chapel dating from the French period (18th century).
